I’ve always wanted to write a story that my 5-year-old daughter could understand. We spend a lot of time reading children’s books together, and I’ve rediscovered how wonderful good children’s books are. So, with that in mind, I’ve been writing some stories meant to be shared with children. “Rachel and the Rachel-Copies” combines my love of science (multiple universes!) with my strong belief that diversity and more women in the sciences are so essential to a successful modern society. I really love it, and I was so happy that Smarty Pants Magazine for Kids also loved it. It was published earlier this month. The best part is that Smarty Pants Magazine did an audio narration complete with sound effects. When I played it for my daughter, she gave me a thumbs up and said, “I like it!” That, in the end, is more than enough for me.
As a side-note, this is my first story I published under my pen name, “Tina Tang,” which is what I plan to use going forward specifically for work directed towards children. I’ll post more about my thoughts on that later.
I hope you and your children have a great time sharing this story together!
