Published: “I <3 You" and "A Second of Forever" in Soft Cartel

You’ve heard me time and again bemoan the ever-increasing passage of time, and one of the casualties of this is that I’m a bit behind on updates. “I <3 You” and “A Second of Forever” was published in Soft Cartel back on July 17, 2018, almost a year ago.

On first glance, these two pieces wouldn’t usually be paired together, but I would consider these both equally valid expressions of poetry and they are both inspired by the love of my life, my husband. While I’d always written for my own amusement, my relationship with him and our subsequent life together have been the catalyst for me to take writing more seriously. It was in our first apartment together that I remember writing “Joseph” (in which he also features), sitting on the carpet, back against the wall, my fingers and mind inspired. It was him that encouraged me to submit it out, which resulted in my first publication, which gave me the courage to pursue this crazy endeavor. The one thing I love most about our relationship is our ability to talk about everything, from breakfast to quantum computers, from cats to philosophy (to philosophical cats). These two pieces are inspired by him and the conversations we have in the middle of the night.

Thank you to Soft Cartel for taking a chance on this. Please enjoy. And as always, let me know what you think.
