Stories are like children to a writer; they’re all different in their own unique ways, but one can’t help them but love all of them for these differences. “The Girl Who Understood” is my attempt at writing something that speaks about the world I see all around me, made up of people who are different genders, ethnicities, personalities, strengths, and weaknesses, but are all, at the same time, deeply human. Plus, it’s another foray into speculative fiction, which I’m growing to love more and more with each story I write.
I was very honored to place second in Nuff Said‘s Speculative Writing Contest to Promote Diversity (SWCPD) with this story and am excited to be able to share this story with you, along with all the other wonderful authors who placed in the contest, which has been published in their annual anthology. If you prefer to have a tangible copy, you can purchase it here. I hope you enjoy it!
