I’ve been remiss in keeping up with my journal. In fact, my next post will be an update of my writing life thus far. However late I am, I did want to let everyone know that I’ve published my story, “Old School Sensibilities“, in Issue 7 of Sci-Fi Romance Quarterly. It’s about a two childhood friends and their blossoming relationship against a futuristic backdrop. I quite like it, if I may say so myself, and I also loved how I was able to work together with the editors to really refine the story.
This is actually my first published speculative fiction story, though I’ve written quite a lot of science poetry. I’ve noticed that I’m treading more often into the wilds of speculative fiction, which isn’t too surprising because I grew up reading predominantly science-fiction and fantasy novels. In fact, I’m more surprised it’s taken me this long to delve into these genres. Right now, I’m writing a mix of stories: literary fiction, speculative fiction, and some that could identify both ways (bi-genre? pan-genre?), so hopefully you’ll start to see more of a varied type of output from me. Or maybe I’m simply codifying my true style. Who knows?
Anyways, I digress. I hope you enjoy reading my story online. Or, if you prefer to read on your e-reader of choice, you can download the whole issue here. Let me know what you think in the comments.
